Man Proposes To Girlfriend At Christmas Light Show

Posted: Updated:

A North Dakota woman got more than she asked for when she went to see the holiday lights display with her boyfriend.

For the past 12 years, The Lions Club has put on a Christmas in the Park show. The show includes lights and elaborate displays. This year, there was an extra light display at the end of the show. Jake Peterson decided to propose to his girlfriend Rebecca Nyberg with his own lighted sign.

"I got all the supplies ready the last couple of nights and actually we were supposed to hangout the last couple of nights and then I lied to her and said I was working on snowmobiles with my friend," Peterson said.

Jake says a coworker set it up and so he could take Rebecca out to dinner.

After going out to eat at the Boardwalk, a restaurant that they used to go to often, the couple went to the Christmas in the Park Show. Jake said he could barely eat his food because he was nervous the whole time.

At the end of the tour, Jake got down on one knee and asked Rebecca to marry him and she said yes!

Rebecca says the light show will probably become a yearly tradition for her and Jake. The couple plans to tie the knot December 13, 2014.
