By late Tuesday afternoon customers were again able to drop off mail and get the coveted "Christmas, Florida" post mark from the U.S. Post Office branch that gets very busy during the holiday season.
Postal workers in Christmas called Orange County authorities around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday after discovering a suspicious envelope. Orange County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jane Watrel said the envelope had spiritual writing and a return address on the outside, but it was not addressed to anyone.
Crews donned hazardous material suits to open the envelope, but they found only paperwork inside. Watrel said authorities believe they know who sent the envelope, and the case will be handled by the U.S. Postal Inspector. No criminal charges are expected.
