John C. McGinley: It Re-Wet My Appetite To Do Stuff Live

Posted: Updated:

For John C. McGinley, star of the new TBS comedy series, "Ground Floor," it all starts with the voice.  A notion he credits to two-time Academy Award winner, Daniel Day-Lewis.

"I heard Daniel Day-Lewis talking about this, with 'Lincoln.' He said the first thing he wanted to find was the president's voice, and I know what he meant.

"The studio came to me during the pilot and said, 'Do you need a voice doctor?" and I said, 'No! This is the guy you're going to get for, hopefully, 10 years.' And then they left me alone.

Born and raised in Liverpool, signed by an inexperienced agent named Brian Epstein, hustled into the studio with a genius producer named George Martin...and out of that session came a hit song called "Do You Want To Know A Secret." Now here's the twist…we're not talking about The Beatles.
