“Bridgegate” Day 100

Posted: Updated:
Fort Lee, New Jersey (My9NJ) - It’s been 100 days since the now infamous” bridgegate, which describes the unannounced Fort Lee lane closures leading to the George Washington Bridge, and people are still looking for answers.

Many people feel like these closures were in fact political punishment by Governor Christie for the Mayor of Fort Lee not backing his reelection. At least that’s what the Democratic National Committee is insisting took place and their thoughts are playing out in the latest video they dropped titled, “It’s been 100 days since Christie’s allies walked off the bridge”.

This is the second video released by the DNC and it does it’s best to mock New Jersey’s governor. In the video they use the governor’s own words to prove that he still hasn’t answered any of the important questions regarding the real reason behind the closures or to explain the “traffic study”.

The DNC is hoping to get some answers soon. Specifically the answers to questions like: where is the traffic study that supposedly was taking place? Where is the data of that traffic study? Where are the emails and transcripts of phone calls that lead to the planning and execution of this traffic study?

Now a slew of departments are working rigorously to try and get the answers to these questions. Congress, an assembly transportation panel, and Pot Authority’s own Inspector General are all looking into the reason behind the closings.

Assemblyman John Wisniewski has subpoenaed all Port Authority documentation surrounding this whole debacle. “When we see this bridge being used for political payback, when we see the lack of accountability, when we’re told, shucks, it was a simple traffic study let me consult with my criminal lawyer now, there’s something wrong with this picture. I think the governor, if he wants to have a shred of credibility on the issue of, ya know, we’re going to have transparency in government, well lets have transparency in Port Authority,” he said.

So far, two Christie appointees have resigned over this scandal.

There are countless treasures to be found along the Long Beach Island shoreline. Sand dollars, conch shells and even ten thousand year-old arrowheads! That's exactly what happened last week to 10-year old Noah Cordle who was walking along the beach and stumbled over the ancient artifact. “I thought it was a mussel shell, but it looked kind of too pointy to be a mussel shell and so I picked it up and it was an arrowhead,” Cordle explained.
