With long holiday break, parents scramble to find stuff for kids to do

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - It's a different spin on a seasonal tradition. Bouncing and hooping just in time for the holidays. From basketball to lacrosse, the mini camps at the House of Sports in Westchester County are packed with participants for the next two weeks.

With the upcoming extended break, Andy Borman, the director of basketball operations, says many parents are looking for last-minute options like what's offered here.

Across the tri-state, many schools will have a full two weeks off covering Christmas and New Year's Day. It is the most time in nearly a decade.

Anelle Gandelman decided to sign her son on a staycation at the JCC of Mid-Westchester. Programs at JCC include arts and crafts, cooking, and athletics. Keeping the little ones busy on break might be just the right shot at keeping everyone happy.
