CTA Red Line trains were temporarily delayed during Friday morning's commute after a woman was struck by a train at a South Side station.
A passenger fell onto the tracks and was hit by an approaching northbound train at the 87th Street station, 15 W. 87th St., CTA spokesperson Catherine Hosinki said, citing preliminary information.
Power was removed from the tracks at 8:46 a.m., Hosinki said.
The person was helped back onto the platform by other passengers, Hosinki said.
She was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, said Larry Langford, director of Fire Media Affairs.
Police said the woman passed out, which caused her to fall onto the tracks.
Power was restored to the track a few minutes after 9 a.m. and trains are running normally again, but are still experiencing some delays, according to the CTA.
