'Tis the season and the norm is for Fed Ex trucks to be full of packages. On this day the white truck was headed to just one location, and yes, it was loaded but with only Christmas presents and for only one family.
Fed Ex you might say, adopted several children and families from foster care. We tagged along as the team from Santa Monica and Hawthorne stopped in to see the Alba-Tolliver family. It was a surprise for this couple, Steve Alba and Trevor Tolliver, and the four boys they adopted just last month. Grandma, Tolliver's mom, was overwhelmed with emotion.
The Fed Ex workers poured out of cars and SUV's that followed the company truck. Each worker carried presents and proceeded into Grandma's home like an army of Santa's helpers. It was like an assembly line as they handed gift from one person to another ending up under the family tree.
This is the second year Fed Ex has taken on our families. Fox 11 News airs the Wednesday's Child segment profiling children in foster care waiting to be adopted. The Alba-Tolliver family is the latest adoption to finalize and Grandma gives her son and his husband much praise for opening their hearts and homes to four children. The boys, Christian, Rodrigo, Manuel and Jonathan each ripped open one present in front of their new Fed Ex friends. It was an early Christmas for the boys who've surely seen their share of rough times while in the system. While Alba is a teacher and Tolliver a college professor funding Christmas for some many can't be easy.
Fed Ex was then off and running to see eleven more from Wednesday's Child making for a very merry early Christmas!
