Hackensack Named Official Hospital Of Super Bowl

Posted: Updated:
Hackensack, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Super Bowl 48 is coming to MetLife stadium this February and Hackensack University Medical Center has been deemed the official New Jersey Hospital for the big game.

Hackensack’s President and CEO, Bob Garrett, discussed some of the biggest medical concerns that come with the Super Bowl. He said that the top three things they are most concerned about are: auto accidents, trauma and hypothermia. He also said that if a player is injured, they are in good hands.

“Given Hackensack and the fact that we are nationally known for many of our specialties we absolutely have it covered. We are very proud of our trauma team here and we know we can handle it,” Garrett said.

In the past, players have been airlifted out of the stadium during games if injuries were extreme. Hackensack UMC says that their helicopter unit, Med 1, will be on hand and ready for anything like that. Also, next month the hospital will be releasing their satellite mobile unit which is basically a fully equipped hospital on wheels.

The New Jersey bail system is broken and more and more people can’t afford to get out of jail. The New Jersey Supreme Court Committee has recommended historic changes to this money-making machine, prospectively cutting the pretrial defendant population in half and saving taxpayers money. One person currently stuck in the broken system is Aakash Dalal, a former Rutgers student who is being held in Bergen County Jail on $4 million bail for his role in firebombing a synagogue 2 years ago.
