Lawsuit filed against NYC Housing Authority

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - A lawsuit claims the New York City Housing Authority failed to investigate a whistleblower's allegations that one of its after-school program directors touched children inappropriately.

The $15 million suit was filed Thursday by the mothers of two children who say they were victimized.

The suit says the employee who reported the incidents to supervisors was threatened with retaliation.

The Daily News reported that the employee was told she had to get one of the children to say what was happening. Otherwise, she could lose her job for making false accusations.

The suit also says housing administrators failed to report the allegations to police or the agency's inspector general.

The agency declined to comment on the pending litigation. The attorney for the director said his client denies the allegations.
