Don't Lose Your Fat, Bank It!

Posted: Updated:

Among your new year resolutions are you vowing to lose weight? Tired of that spare tire around your waist? Ready to diet and hit the spin classes. Now may be the time to re-think what fat is on our bodies.

Fat is full of valuable stem cells. They've proven to be as malleable as embryonic stem cells, but without the controversy. While it's true there aren't yet any FDA approved stem cell therapies from fat, but there's plenty of research and promise. hat promise is enough to create a new industry to bank a person's fat after liposuction. The fat can be injected into the face, breasts, even the rear end for cosmetic enhancements. But Adicyte isn't just selling the idea of banking fat for beauty. The company calls it's service "biological insurance." Banking your fat for future ailments like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke and more. Critics say stem cell therapy for those kinds of diseases is now just theoretical. Fat banking sells the idea of holding young and presumably most potent stem cells in reserve until you need them and there's a bonafide therapy.
