A deputy in Richmond County was fired just one week after being named 'Deputy of the Year' WFXG-TV reports.

Augusta-Richmond County deputy Austin Shephard was reportedly involved in activities that could have 'violated his oath of office' officials told WFXG.

Shephard was terminated on Tuesday.

The situation remains under investigation by the Internal Investigation Unit of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
