One hospitalized after Chicago Lawn basement fire

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One person was injured in a fire Tuesday morning in a home in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Three people escaped from the blaze in the basement of a one-story bungalow in the 6600 block of South Oakley Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs. One person was hospitalized in fair condition.

The blaze was extinguished at 9:47 a.m., according to Fire Media.

The city Department of Human Services was contacted to assist two adults and one child, according to Fire Media.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
