Police first responded to a gas station in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue at 8:19 p.m. to investigate a report of multiple gunshots, Waukegan police said in a release.

Beat officers as well as the department's Gang Intelligence Unit, Neighborhood Policing Unit and a police dog searched the area and found the suspects in the 500 block of Tiffany Drive, the release said.

The shots were fired during a feud with other gang members, the release said.

In all, seven men with gang ties were charged with felony mob action, police said. They are:

• Michael Price, 22, of the 1600 block of 11th Street in Waukegan

• Demetrius Woods, 20, of the 1300 block of Greenfield Avenue in Waukegan

Hill and Woods were also charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a street gang member, aggravated discharge of a firearm and criminal defacement of a firearm, police said.

In addition, Hill was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of a stolen firearm, police added. Price was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

The department considered the case a "high priority" and later executed a search warrant at the Tiffany Drive apartment where they were seized four handguns, nine grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Three of the handguns seized had been purchased illegally outside Illinois and another was reported stolen from Indiana, police said.

All seven men will appear in court Jan. 22, the release said.
