FAMU will interview 6 candidates for president

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida A&M University search committee will interview six candidates for president.

The search committee on Friday picked the finalists from a list of nearly 50 candidates for the post.

Those chosen for interviews are Dianne Suber, the president of Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, N.C.; John Maupin, president of the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta; Elmira Mangum, vice president of planning and budget for Cornell University; John Price, president of the University of North Texas at Dallas; Joan Robinson, the former provost for Morgan State University in Baltimore; and Woodrow Whitlow, a top administrator with NASA.

FAMU has been without a permanent president since July 2012 after James Ammons abruptly resigned amid the fallout over the hazing death of a drum major.
