SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A Seminole County man is has been arrested in connection to a 1981 murder in St. Marys, Ohio.
Paul Hoover, 52, was indicted and arrested on murder charges from a cold case homicide 32 years ago. FOX35 spoke with his mother with whom he was living at the time of his arrest.
"I'm broken. My heart is broken. I don't believe he did it, cause he was never that kind of a man or a young boy. He wouldn't even hurt an animal," said Evelyn Hoover.
Hoover says her son was arrested in her Altamonte Springs condominium where he had been living with her and working part time. He was charged with aggravated murder for the 1981 homicide of Marcellus Reineke in Ohio.
Hoover says she and her son lived in Ohio before moving to Florida and that detectives had been questioning him about the murder for years, but he wasn't arrested until last month, after a grand jury in Ohio indicted him.
"They said they found a hair and they thought it might be his," Hoover said.
Investigators in Ohio say the case is not closed and there are more persons of interest connected to the murder.
