The gunman who killed himself after firing shots in Halifax Health Sunday Morning has been identified as 20-year-old of Jonathan G. Rodriguez-Jeff of Deltona.
Shots were initially fired early Sunday morning at a moving car on North Clyde Morris Boulevard in Daytona Beach.
Shortly after, shots rang out inside in Halifax Hospital. Officers say Rodriguez-Jeff shot at the glass door to the Professional Building of the hospital along with several cars in the parking lot. Witnesses told police that once inside, Rodriguez-Jeff looked to a nurse and patient, asking them "Do you guys want to die tonight?" According to the police report Rodriguez-Jeff then hit two nurses with the end of his shotgun, causing minor injuries.
Officers say he entered the next room, confronted another nurse and patient, and then shot himself in the head.
The hospital was on lock down at the time of the incident, including the emergency room and entrances into the building.
The driver of the car who originally called the incident in was not injured as the shot struck the metal frame on the other side of the windshield.
