Ex-Boy Scout leader admits distributing child porn

Posted: Updated:

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- A former Boy Scout leader from southern New Jersey has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography online.

Gerrett Conover, 48, of Woolwich Township, entered his plea Monday, federal prosecutors said. He faces at least five years in prison and could get up to 20 years when he is sentenced April 15.

Conover initially was charged with possessing child porn, two counts of sexually exploiting children and 10 counts of the receipt or distribution of child porn. That came after he was stopped at a border crossing when he tried to enter the United States from Canada in September 2012.

Investigators allegedly found more than 50 child porn images on his computer, and more were found during a search of his home.

Conover was a Boy Scout leader from 1990 to 2000.
