Elle Magazine Accused Of Curve Dropping

Posted: Updated:

Elle Magazine released four covers for its February issue, featuring "women in television." Once again, the fashion magazine is accused of curve cropping.

The four covers feature Amy Poehler from "Parks And Rec", Zooey Deschanel from "New Girl", Allison Williams from "Girls," and Mindy Kaling from the "Mindy Project."

The difference between Mindy and the others is that Mindy's body is cropped and the picture is in black and white. She's the only one out of the four who doesn't have a full body shot or have a cover in color. Now, some are accusing Elle of hiding Mindy's curves, and are calling the black and white photo racist.

Mindy, however, tried to diffuse the situation on Twitter with some humor. She sent out two funny tweets:

Wishing for more skin on my @ ELLE MAGAZINE cover? Chris Messina & I are naked on a brand NEW THE MINDY PROJECT tonight, ya pervs! 930/830 FOX

I love my @ELLEmagazine cover. It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.

This is the third time that Elle Magazine has covered up or cropped a heavier girl on the cover. Melissa McCarthy was one of those actresses. She was on the cover in November with Penelope Cruz and Reese Witherspoon. Another time the covers caused controversy was with Gabourey Sidibe. The other cover girls were Megan Fox, Lauren Conrad and Amanda Seyfried. All of those ladies, except Gabby, were photographed from the knees up.
