Ga. job creation reaches record highs

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

According to the Office of Governor Deal, job creation hit a record high in Georgia in 2013.The numbers show Georgia generated more than 31,000 jobs and that number continues to grow.

While Georgia is dealing with a 7.7 percent unemployment rate, Governor Deal says things are looking up.

"We have achieved the lowest unemployment rate in five years and I think that is in large part attributed to the fact that we have seen these high job numbers coming our way," said Deal.

Deal says the removal of taxation on energy for manufacturing use was a huge gain for Georgia. That removal enabled Georgia to bring more businesses from outside of our state and to allow domestic business to grow.

Sixty-six percent of the business that grew in Georgia were expansions of businesses already operating in the state; only 34 percent was from new businesses.

Deal is worried about the impact of Obamacare, on our economy. He says Obamacare will cost the economy about $325 million however, other than that he's confident Georgians will see continued job growth.
