NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Five firefighters suffered minor injures fighting a fire at a Bronx high school on Friday evening.

The FDNY says that flames broke out at about 6:10 p.m. at Monsignor Scanlan High School on the Hutchinson River Expressway.

It started in the basement boiler room and extended to the walls.  The principal noticed the fire and notified authorities.

The fire went to three alarms.

The archdiocese is having work done on the building and will visit Saturday to assess the damage and then determine the next steps.

    The Metro-North Railroad has sacrificed safety for on-time performance, according to a report released Wednesday by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority panel. The report echoes an assessment conducted this year by the Federal Railroad Administration, which investigated after a string of Metro-North accidents including a December 2013 derailment that killed four riders in the Bronx.
