Abduction attempts have parents on edge in Gwinnett County

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Police are investigating two reported abduction attempts and a third suspicious incident in Gwinnett County.

One incident happened on Jan. 21 in Dacula. Police responded to a call at the Fairmont at the Park neighborhood. A child said a man in a black pickup truck pulled up next to him, opened the door and tried to pull him in.  The child was able to run away to his home and tell his parents.

The child described the attempted abductor as an overweight white male with a beard around 50 years old. His vehicle was described as a black truck with rusted rims and tinted windows.

A similar incident was reported Jan. 14 in a Lawrenceville subdivision. A child told his parents that someone tried to grab him out of their driveway. He was also able to get away. The boy described that man as thin with a black hat.

A third suspicious incident was reported on Jan. 16. In that case, a van was reported parked in a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood at 1 a.m. A concerned neighbor called police, but the van was gone by the time authorities arrived. Unlike the other two cases, no one was approached.

Authorities are investigating if any of these instances are related.
