Waste Management Phoenix Open prepares for tournament

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Some of the best golfers around arriving in the valley this weekend as the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open kicks off on Monday.

But before the big tournament at TPC Scottsdale some fans are getting a chance to hit a few balls at one of the holes all for a chance to win one-million dollars.

Everything kicks off in a couple days so there is still a lot of work going on here getting the course ready for the players as well for the fans. The tournament is known around the PGA as one of the rowdiest and yet most fun filled stops on the tour.

Organizers say 500,000 spectators are expected next week with 200,000 spectators expected next Saturday alone.

Officials have beefed up security, "You cannot bring backpacks, if people are still wearing fanny packs you cannot bring those either, if you do bring some contents in a purse that does not fit in our size scope we are providing a complimentary plastic bag to put your contents in so you can come in and everyone does get wanded" said Tom King, Chairman of the Phoenix Open Tournament.

Amateurs at the 16th hole were going for the green hoping for a hole in one and winning a million bucks. The golfer with the closest to the pin shot here will get to participate in the shot at glory competition next Wednesday. The prize is $500,000 and $500,000 for a charity of their choice.
