One wounded in shooting at Eastern Florida State College in Palm Bay

PALM BAY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

One person is in critical condition following a shooting at a college campus in Palm Bay.

According to a police spokesperson, three people were involved in a fight in a parking lot at Eastern Florida State College Thursday afternoon.   Palm Bay police report that two men were attacking another man.  The man being attacked retreated to his vehicle, where he grabbed a gun and shot one of his attackers in the chest.

The man with the gunshot wound was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center.   The shooter was also taken to the hospital for injuries that occurred prior to the shooting.  A third person involved in the incident is being questioned. 

All classes at this particular EFSC campus were canceled for the rest of the day.

Police say the situation has now been contained and a campus lockdown lifted.  Investigators are now combing the scene for evidence and talking to witnesses.
