CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Charles "Peanut" Tillman represented the Chicago Bears in a very special way at Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday night, when he accepted the 2013 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

The award recognizes excellence both on and off the field. In addition to being an all-pro safety, the Bears cornerback does a lot of work great work for the Chicago community.

Tillman's Cornerstone Foundation is his platform for providing resources and opportunities to children and their families in need.

The official announcement actually took place on Saturday night during the "NFL Honors" show.

"Walter Payton's legacy continues to be a beacon of service and giving, and I'm just trying to do my small part," Tillman said when he accepted the award. "I don't think any of the finalists do what they do to get recognition. But we do it because we are passionate about helping others."
