ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) -

Four people were treated for minor injuries Saturday and twenty others were assisted by firefighters during an early morning fire at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house on Washtenaw in Ann Arbor. Everyone involved is expected to be okay. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Yellow crime scene tape blocks off an unsafe area at the SAE house and black soot can be seen where smoke and flames were coming from the building. Firefighters got the call around 5:30am and when crews arrived we're told the fire was raging on the first floor with dozens of people asleep and unaware of the danger.

"They were woke up, found in their bedroom areas still sleeping during the fire and the alarms going off," Ann Arbor fire battalion Chief Steven Lowe told Fox 2. "They were then assisted out of the back of the building where it was safe."

He says two people got disoriented in the thick smoke and had to be carried out of the three-story house which was built in 1892. In 2011, SAE was expelled amid hazing allegations; they're no longer a recognized fraternity at the University of Michigan. The fire was contained to the first floor of the house. Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
