A SWAT situation in Seminole County caused residents in one apartment complex to be evacuated. Altamonte Springs police told FOX 35 a man by the name of Zachary Raptoulis was hold up inside his apartment threatening to hurt himself and officers.
Senior Police Officer, Robert Pelton, a spokesperson with Altamonte Springs police told FOX 35 this all unfolded at 8:30 p.m. when they received a call from Raptoulis' parents. The parents called the police from Utah because they were concerned about their son.
Altamonte Springs Police went over to do a well being check and that's when they were met outside by Raptoulis' girlfriend.
Senior Officer Pelton said, she asked them not to approach the residence because her boyfriend said if they did he would shoot a cop or himself. That's when the police decided to evacuate everyone from the building.
Then Seminole County Sheriff's SWAT team was called to the scene. Senior Officer Pelton, said that they have been trying to make contact with Raptoulis in the apartment for a while, but couldn't get a response.
Traffic was shut down on Jamestown Boulevard for hours, up until the standoff ended around 10:50 p.m. It turns out, when SWAT went in, Zachary Raptoulis was no where to be found.
