Funeral arrangements have been made for a central Florida deputy who was fatally shot while responding to a car burglary call in Windermere on Tuesday morning.
Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine, 34, was shot and killed by Benjamin Holtermann after a brief foot pursuit. Holtermann, 28, was found dead in a nearby neighborhood from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators say.
A woman who was with Holtermann during an initial burglary call is identified as 18-year-old Erica Pugh. Authorities say she is being charged with multiple counts of burglary and grand theft.
Pugh appeared before an Orange County judge on Wednesday, and at this point, she has not been charged with anything having to do with Deputy Pine's death. Investigators say Pugh was interviewed by detectives and confessed to a recent armed robbery, which occurred in the area of Hiawassee and Old Winter Garden Road.
Pine is survived by a wife and three small children. He had been employed by the Sheriff's Office since 2011.
OPD and FHP will be diverting traffic on west bound SR408 onto I4 and 441, east of John Young Parkway.
