Six-Year-Old Stroke Survivor Inspires Community

Posted: Updated:

One month ago, six-year-old Kinslee Rae randomly collapsed in church from a stroke. She was unable to walk, talk, or use the right side of her body.

She eventually began physical therapy at the Children Center in Bethany and with love and support from her community, she is showing great signs of improvement.

"It is very rare. She had a culmination of two things. She has a family history of a genetic disorder that causes you to clot abnormally," said Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Tami McMichael.

Rae is still a joyful, happy young girl who looks forward to the same things she always did.

"I play basketball. I'm going to play next season," said Rae.

Heather Rae, Kinslee's mom, is extremely proud of her daughter for all of the great strides she has made in the last month. "She's exceeded my expectations, and she's a miracle to our family."
