CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some customers of Fifth Third Bank were informed this week that the bank mistakenly told credit reporting agencies they had filed for bankruptcy, WCPO in Cincinnati reports.

According to FOX 19 in Cincinnati, Fifth Third Bank said the mistake was a result of a systems change late last year.

Fifth Third said it moved quickly to notify the agencies of the error, FOX 19 said.

The article said a limited number of customers were affected.

Fifth Third Bank is headquartered in Ohio. It has branches in 12 other states.
