The Fitbit is a popular gadget for those who workout. It is a bracelet that tracks daily activity, calories burned, your sleep and your weight. But it now may also be the source of a painful skin rash.

Trish Hamernick from Arizona took off her Fitbit Force the day she noticed a small red dot, but in a few days that dot had spread. Her wrist is red, blistered and swollen.

Her doctor told her this isn't the first rash he's seen that may have been caused by the Fitbit Force.

The company released a statement saying:

"A limited percentage of our customers have experienced skin sensitivities when using the Fitbit Force. We are conducting a thorough investigation of the product and will provide additional information once our investigation is complete.

Fitbit is offering a full refund or exchange. Hamernick says she decided to return her device and has never had a reaction to any other jewelry.

Fitbit does make other models besides the Force. No word yet if any of those models have caused irritation.
