Vacationing family in search of lost dog

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A New York family escaped the brutal cold to vacation in Orlando, but now, their vacation has turned into a nightmare.   They're missing a very special family member.

"Her leash became detached from her harness.  She was wearing a pink harness," said Denise Turgeon who lost her dog three weeks ago at Doctor Phillips Dog Park.

Her dog Nora is a Brittany, often referred to as a Spaniel.

"She was getting better, since we've had her since the end of October, but she was extremely fearful," said Turgeon. "She came from an abusive situation.  She was very distressful of men and most people in general."

The family has even contacted a pet psychic.  They're pulling out all the stops.

"From social media, contacting various shelter, veterinary clinics, several pet amber alerts," said Turgeon.

Nora was wearing a leash and she's micro-chipped, just like her brother and sister.  But every day that goes by, the family worries for her safety.

"We are praying and hoping that we will find her before we have go back to New York," said Turgeon. "We were able to extend our stay here an additional week hoping that we are able to find her."
