LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A former Lake Mary school and daycare employee is in jail for allegedly molesting one of the children in his care.
Seminole County Sheriff's deputies arrested Harry Shane Rubin on Monday night after receiving a report from one of the parents at Lake Mary's Legacy Academy that Rubin touched her 4-year-old daughter inappropriately.
"The parents were very upset and couldn't believe that this was occurring. They enrolled their child into a facility under the assumption that the people who work there would take good care of these children," said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Cannaday.
According to the arrest report, the child complained that Rubin "always asks her to touch his private parts" and had even asked her to take off her underpants, telling her she was a "good girl" afterwards.
The 4-year-old told investigators the touching was happening during nap time over the last several weeks.
During questioning, deputies said Rubin admitted the girl "hugs him often," sometimes "rubs his belly, and may have "accidentally" touched his privates.
Rubin, 40, is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12. He is being held without bond.
FOX 35 asked repeatedly for comment from the school, but they refused to speak with us about these charges. Police are not releasing the surveillance video of nap time in this case, citing the importance of the evidence therein. Right now they do not believe there are any other victims.
