Police say Flagler student brought knife to bus stop
PALM COAST, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Flagler County sheriff's deputies were called to Rymfire Elementary School on Tuesday morning after several students told their bus driver a 12-year-old girl on the bus had a knife.
Deputies said the girl pulled the 12 inch kitchen knife out of her backpack at her bus stop in the morning and threatened a 10-year-old boy. She told deputies the boy had been bullying her every day and she wanted it to stop.
Deputies said they found the knife in the girl's backpack. She told them she didn't know how the knife got into her bag.
"It's obviously a poor choice on her part," said Comm. Rob Weber with Flagler County Sheriff's Office. "Hopefully the situation will rectify itself."
The girl was suspended for 10 days. The sheriff's office has forwarded the case to the State Attorney's Office, and they're looking at possible felony charges of aggravated assault.
