Family happy to be back from Kiev with adopted children

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

After days of deadly clashes with police, anti-government protestors have taken control of the capital, Kiev.

The past week saw the worst violence in Ukraine since the breakup of the former Soviet Union a quarter century ago.

Now with a temporary president, the divided nation hopes to end a deadly political standoff.

An American family says they are thankful they survived the madness. They flew back to Atlanta on Sunday with their new Ukrainian children.

David Bundy and his wife Lisa will be taking 16-year-old Nastia, 14-year-old Karina, 11-year-old Max and 9-year-old Alla back to their Montgomery home. A much more peaceful place than where they were staying in working on paperwork to adopt the four children.

They had a fearful time living right by Independence Square in Kiev. Once the couple completed the paperwork, they wanted to get the children out of the country as quickly and safely as possible.
