Teacher Got Drunk Before School, Police Say

Posted: Updated:

An Oklahoma teacher is accused of getting a little rowdy for school.

The substitute teacher in the Ada School District was arrested on Valentine's Day.

Police alleged that Michelle Childress showed up to work at an elementary school drunk after being called in to substitute.

Teachers told police they did not want to see her drive so they attempted to distract her.

When police arrived, Childress admitted to drinking before school. But when the officer told her that was a bad decision, she changed her story and told police she wasn't drunk.

After refusing a field sobriety test, Childress was brought to the station where her blood-alcohol level was 0.263, police said, more than three times the legal limit.

She faces public intoxication charges.
