NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton returned to practice on Wednesday, a day after he was arrested on felony weapons charges.

The South Carolina native faces three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

He said during practice that the arrest was "not a distraction."

An attorney for Felton's estranged wife, Ariane Raymondo-Felton, turned in a loaded semi-automatic handgun allegedly belonging to Felton to the 20th Precinct in Manhattan, hours after his team lost at home to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday.

NYPD Sgt. Thomas Antonetti said Felton turned himself in at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday accompanied by his attorney.

The charges don't stem from him using the firearm in a menacing manner but of possessing a gun he wasn't registered to have, said police.

Felton was arraigned and released on $25,000 bail .

Raymondo-Felton, who recently filed for divorce, was questioned by police. Felton allegedly pointed the handgun at Raymondo-Felton during an earlier domestic dispute, according to the New York Post.

A Knicks spokesman said the team had no immediate comment.

Felton has had a disappointing season, averaging 10.4 points and shooting 40 percent while missing 16 games with a series of injuries. He has been frequently criticized by fans as the Knicks have fallen to 21-36.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
