NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A Good Samaritan who gave her coat to cover a  woman who gave birth in an Upper East Side crosswalk was reunited with the mother and baby on Thursday.

Isabel Williams, 20, was out to get coffee for herself and her co-workers on Monday when she came across the birth.  Despite the cold, she took off her coat to cover the woman at the corner of Third Ave. and 68th St.

“Initially (I thought) she had gotten hit by a cab. I ran over. The shock of the entire situation caused everyone to freeze a little bit. Nobody actually had called the ambulance so I called the ambulance. I got down on Polly’s level. I put my clothes on top of her baby and I immediately covered her up because at that moment she was exposed,” said Williams.

A Fox 5 crew happened upon the scene as it unfolded and it became a viral sensation.  Fox 5 was able to find Williams and help set up the reunion.

Polly and Cian McCourt and, baby Ila Isabel, met Williams at their Upper East Side home on Thursday morning.

The McCourts were so grateful to Williams that they gave their baby the middle name "Isabel."

"A reporter told me they named the baby after me. I almost started crying," said Williams.

The New Yorker who hopes to go to nursing school is so humble that she can't believe the attention that her actions are getting.

"I got that coat at Goodwill for $40.  I'm fine," Williams says.

"I'm kind of shocked that doing what I did was such a big deal to so many people," she said.  "It should just be a normality that people help each other out."

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
