After struggling with weight all their lives, Patty and Steve Anderson found the solution in the palm of their hand — literally.
Six years ago, Steve Anderson weighed 660 pounds. His wife weighed 390. For the married, retired truck drivers, who live in Poinciana, life on the road had taken its toll. "You sit on your behind and drive, eat and sleep," said Steve Anderson.
Married 10 years, the couple met while she was working at a Checkers fast-food restaurant. She handed him his change, and they both felt a "bolt of lightning."
"I thought my hand had blown off," said Steve Anderson.
She gave him her phone number along with the change. "That was nothing I ever did before," said Patty Anderson.
She took up truck driving after they married, and together they racked up the miles and the pounds.
He gained 300 pounds during the next few years. She gained 230.
