Brevard County deputies say the suspected gunman who was killed outside the Brevard County Courthouse in Viera on Friday has been identified.
Investigators say his name is Robert Striffler.
They say he showed up outside of the courthouse with a gun Friday morning around 10:30 a.m.
Deputies say it was the gunman's family who called them that he was on his way to the courthouse and intended to do harm.
Deputies say he was angry at judges and court personnel, but are still working to find out why.
Snipers were stationed on the courthouse's roof while Viera High School and Viera Charter School were placed on lockdown.
The standoff lasted for about four hours as FBI agents and deputies were out front trying to talk the man down.
A bag found with the gunman was believed to hold explosives, but members of the bomb squad determined it contained the man's personal belongings.
