DELTONA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Students at Pine Ridge High School in Deltona are rallying around a teacher to make sure they see him again soon on campus.

Charlie Lundell is a math and college readiness teacher at Pine Ridge High School, but he had to leave this year unexpectedly while he undergoes treatment for lung and liver cancer.

He's now in his third round of chemotherapy and radiation.

Students told Fox 35 news nothing but good things about Lundell and want nothing more than to see him back in the classroom.

Taking it upon themselves to raise money for him and his family, students organized several fundraisers including a Dancing with the Teachers event.

Students also organized a diaper party for Lundell and his wife. They're expecting twins.

So far, thousands of dollars have been raised to help Lundell with his rising medical costs.

Students say they've really seen the school come together and school spirit is at an all-time high.
