Surveillance Video Shows Teen Struck by Two Hit and Run Drivers

Posted: Updated:

Santa Ana police have released surveillance video of an accident at an intersection yesterday afternoon that injured a 14-year-old girl.  The teen ran into traffic against the light, and was struck by a red pickup truck and a black sedan.

Both drivers stopped briefly, the driver of the truck getting out and looking, then taking off.  A good samaritan followed that driver, and gave police enough information to make an arrest.

The driver of the other car stopped and picked up the girl's backpack, but left before identifying herself or contacting police.  They are hoping the video they released from a security camera can help them find her.

The video is disturbing to watch, but the teen did survive the accident, and has been released from the hospital.  She will need more follow-up care for a leg injury.
