SunRail publishes proposed schedule, addresses traffic delays

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

SunRail is up and running in Central Florida as the Florida Department of Transportation gets ready for service in May.   FDOT has also released a proposed schedule for the trains that would run between 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. (click on graphics at the left to view).

FDOT tells us they are running the trains now on a schedule that is close to what will happen when service begins, so that they can look for problems in the system and fix them.

Two stations that are getting a close look are Florida Hospital and Longwood.  There have been sporadic backups on Princeton Street in Orlando and State Road 427 in Longwood.  Engineers will have to determine if that is because the crossing arms remain down, even while the train is in the station.

Service for SunRail begins on May 1.
