ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Houston, there is no problem when the girls are in charge.

Local high schoolers are ready to prove it at NASA'S Florida Student Astronaut Challenge this weekend at Kennedy Space Center.

The University High School team that will compete in lab, engineering and space simulator challenges is the only all-girl team in the competition.

"Last year, [organizers] told me they did a celebration for the anniversary of the first woman in space and there were only three girls in the competition, so I'm pretty excited to bring six this year myself," said University High School astronomy and physical science teacher Danielle Miller.

Miller said her team made the competition based on test scores, beating out nearly 50 others from central Florida for one of the twelve spots in the competition.

The competition runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
