Referee Arrested For Allegedly Dragging Hockey Player Off The Ice

Posted: Updated:

"Stephen Levins", 55,  was arrested for allegedly grabbing a teenaged ice hockey player and dragging him off the ice.

It all happened on Saturday at the Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, Connecticut during an ice hockey game for 13 and 14 year olds.

Levins had apparently just given the player a penalty, meaning he was kicked- out of the game.

According to police, parents tried to go after the referee for dragging the player.

"You don't need to put your hands on them, that's for sure," says parent, Valente.

One parent says it was the second time that police were called since they arrived Friday night.

According to the website for the Ice Hockey Officials Of Northern Connecticut, Levins is listed as the commissioner.

Levins is charged with breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor.
