DETROIT (WJBK) -- The Detroit Lions have signed tight end Brandon Pettigrew to a 4-year contract worth a reported $16 million.
The team tweeted Friday that the deal will keep Pettigrew with the Lions through the 2017 season.
FOX 2's Dan Miller loves the signing. "He's a huge part of the running game and his departure would have just been another hole to fill," said Miller. "I'm looking forward to seeing the new staff work with this group."
Pettigrew caught 41 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns last year. He recorded back-to-back seasons with 71 and 83 receptions, respectively, in 2010 and 2011.
