AUSTELL, Ga. -

It was opening day at Six Flags Over Georgia on Saturday. The park opened its gates this weekend for their 2014 season.

The Austell theme park is a big attraction for families and job seekers. Park officials said they are expecting to hire around 3,000 employees this year. That is 17-percent increase from the previous year.

Promoters tell FOX 5 News that the park will feature a new attraction this year called the Hurricane Harbor Water Park.

Six Flags Over Georgia has been around for just under 50 years. It first opened its gates in 1967.
