Grassroots Religious Group Gathers To Rally Against Gun Violence

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA, P.A. -

Heeding God's Call, a faith-based grassroots movement, hosted an event to resist gun violence and illegal gun ownership. The group gathered near Amber Long's home in South Philadelphia on Sun. March 16 at 3:30 p.m.

26-year-old Amber Long was murdered after someone snatched her $14 purse in Northern Liberties on Jan 19, 2014.

Heeding God's call brought around 30 - 40 people to the South Philadelphia residence near Ritner and Bouvier st.

The mission of the group is to disarm violent Philadelphians. They act on this cause, adamantly against the availability of firearms, in hopes that they can reduce the suffering of families who lost loved ones to gun violence.

The gathering and its group of mixed faiths and races gathered to pray and sing, united towards the cause they believe in.
