Two Atlanta firefighters were injured during a fire at a three-story home in northeast Atlanta Tuesday night.
The 2-alarm fire broke out around 10 p.m. on Lullwater Road, near the Druid Hills Golf Club. When authorities arrived on the scene, the 6,000 square foot, six bedroom home was fully engulfed in flames.
Tuesday night's high winds helped the fire spread, and forced fire crews to back off and attack it from above with ladder trucks. According to fire officials, the fire extended into the attic and part of the roof collapse during their effort.
During the roof collapse, four firefighters sustained injuries – three of
those had minor injuries and were treated and released from Grady. However, one
firefighter suffered burns and is still recovering at Grady Memorial.
The 90-year-old home recently sold in January for $1.4 million and is located next door to the home where "Driving Miss Daisy" was filmed.
