NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

There is a side to rapper Flava Flav that many people, not even some fans, know about.

The Long Island native can play more than 14 instruments and his love of music transcends rap.

Flav, 55, and his band, the Flavortrnoz, like to rock out, too.

“You’ll hear some Led Zepellin and Black Dog. Music has been my life all my life," said Flav about his upcoming gig with the Flavortronz.

The man who shot to fame in the 1980s as a member of Public Enemy  has also gone on to have a successful reality TV career.

"I’ve got some stuff in the can. You’re all going to be surprised with the next one I got coming to you all,” said Flav who starred in the Surreal Life and Flavor of Love.

Flav, who know calls Las Vegas home, is returning to New York City for a special performance.

Flavor Flav and the Flavortronz take the stage The Iridium at 1650 Broadway on April 2.

There are shows scheduled for 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.
