The Orlando City Soccer League kicks off its season on Saturday, March 29th. The league is set to join the MLS next year and a new stadium is also in the works.
Phil Rawlins from Orlando City Soccer said the groundbreaking for the new stadium is set for May and then the construction should take 15 months. He said the team should play in the new stadium starting in August of 2015, but since the major leagues start in May, the team will play at the new Citrus Bowl until then.
For now, the team is playing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Rawlins said it is a much more intimate venue. "We're gonna be really close to the players," he said.
Rawlins said the team has signed five current players to the MLS, so fans this season can get a glimpse of what they can expect from next year.
But he said this season's ticket sales are almost completely sold out. If you want to see Orlando City Soccer this year, you can still get tickets at the game this Saturday.
The team will play Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
